“Get It Groomed!” is a $200,000 community campaign to secure a Snow Rabbit 3 groomer and launch a new program to keep ski trail conditions at Tower Ridge and other county parks in better shape for locals, visitors, events, and youth.
However, anyone who skis there knows grooming has been a struggle in recent years. Aging and broken-down equipment, challenging weather that current gear can’t handle, and the County’s challenges with staffing and timing — not to mention budgeting — have had Tower Ridge not nearly living up to its potential for our community.
This means a loss for locals, a loss for tourism, and a loss of reputation for the largest ski trail network in West-Central Wisconsin.
To help change this, an experienced coalition has formed to collaborate with the County — doing the research, finding solutions, and taking on this problem. It’s been identified that new equipment is the top-priority, along with a plan to bring trained volunteers into the fold (alongside the County), to operate the groomer at the optimum times and temperatures for the best results.
The community has already invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into an incredible facility with 12+ miles of wooded and rolling terrain trails, a wonderful warming chalet, two skills parks, lighting, and snowshoe trails.
Let’s build upon this success with grooming equipment that can help keep the ski surface in top condition, making Tower Ridge the regional destination it deserves to be.
